Many schools are taking preventative measures to address and increase the mental health of their students. One way is to teach children strategies to identify, regulate, and manage their emotions-which is happening more and more as schools invest in what's called
social-emotional learning.
One way The Bright Lights Club addresses social-emotional learning is through role play. Getting students to act out responses to social scenarios can provide insight into the learning gaps of this generations' interpersonal skills, along with time to correct and teach appropriate ways to handle those scenarios.
